Our fantastic Ofsted Inspection!
We are delighted to share the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection at House on the Dials Day Nursery and Preschool, which took place on 28 September 2026.
We are incredibly proud to have achieved three Strong Standards and three Expected Standards, with all safeguarding standards met.
Under Ofsted’s new inspection framework, a Strong Standard means that a nursery is performing above the expected standard, so this is a fantastic achievement and a wonderful reflection of the dedication, care and hard work of our team.

What Ofsted Celebrated
We were particularly delighted that Ofsted recognised three areas of our nursery as Strong Standards:
Behaviour, Attitudes and Routines
Ofsted praised our calm, nurturing and respectful environment, highlighting the kindness children show one another, the strong friendships they develop and their growing confidence and independence.
Children’s Welfare and Wellbeing
Inspectors recognised that children’s wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. They highlighted our warm, trusting relationships, thoughtful care routines, positive mealtime experiences and the way we respond to each child’s individual needs.
Leadership and Governance
Ofsted recognised our supportive leadership, commitment to staff development and strong relationships with families. We were particularly pleased that parents spoke so positively about the care their children receive and the communication and relationships they enjoy with our team. One of our favourite observations from the report was:
“Children are settled, confident and secure in this warm and nurturing nursery.”
For us, there is no greater compliment than knowing that children feel happy, safe, valued and confident in our care.
Continuing to Grow and Improve
Ofsted also recognised that we are meeting the expected standards in children’s achievement, curriculum and teaching, and inclusion.
As a nursery committed to continually improving, we welcome the opportunities highlighted to develop our practice even further.
Our next steps will focus on:
Celebrating diversity: Further enriching our environments and activities to reflect the different families, cultures and communities around us.
Extending children’s learning: Supporting our educators to use even richer language and conversations to encourage children’s curiosity, vocabulary and thinking.
Strengthening inclusive practice: Building on our existing SEND knowledge through further staff training and sharing of expertise across the team.
These are positive opportunities to build on the strong foundations already in place, and we look forward to involving our children, families and educators as we continue to develop.
A Heartfelt Thank You
We would like to say an enormous thank you to our wonderful team, whose care, passion and commitment make House on the Dials such a special place for children every day.
We would also like to thank our families for your continued trust, encouragement and support, and especially those who took the time to speak with the inspector.
We are incredibly proud of this outcome, but even prouder of the happy, confident and caring children who make our nursery what it is.
